We Wins $13.5 Million Grant from DARPA to Enhance National Computer Security

We are excited to announce that we have been awarded a $13.5 million grant from DARPA to address critical challenges in cybersecurity, with Penn as the leading institution in an effort that includes an excellent team from The Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. My Penn colleague Prof. André DeHon is overall lead and director, and I am honored to take on the role of associate director. We are also fortunate to have our Penn colleague Prof. Jonathan Smith as part of our dream team. The project aims to fundamentally shift the state-of-the-art in computer protection, moving the field from today’s typical “patch-and-pray” approach to a foundational, resilient approach that remains secure in the presence of even the most sophisticated software bugs.
